FAQ

Accreditation, Supplier Endorsements and Course Updates
Are you ISO and Investors in People accredited?

Yes, we have IIP, ISO 90001, ISO 14001 and the Select Accredit Public Sector Supplier Accreditation Service. We are also members of the e-learning Alliance for Scotland and the British Institute for Learning & Development.

Are you on the OGC list or other select supplier lists?

Learning Nexus has partnered with several OGC listed e-learning providers, and so if this is one of your buying criteria, then we qualify. We are also members of Select Accredit: www.bipselect.com.

Do you keep your courses up to date?

Yes. When required by legislation and where relevant, the courses are updated and as a customer, you get the latest versions. We also continuously update and enhance the pedagogical and presentational aspects of our courses using the latest techniques and technologies. This ensures that the learner interactivity and engagement are maximised at all times.

Bespoke e-learning
Can I change the Learning Nexus off-the-shelf, user ready courses?

Yes. To begin with we will have about half of our courses which you can modify using our Course Builder. By the end of 2011 you should be able to re-purpose all of our courses.

Can I customise or personalise part or all of one of your generic e-learning courses?

Technical Matters
Can I import and export an individual user’s usage records?

It is not possible at the present time to import a user’s usage records. It is possible to save an individual’s usage record to a CSV file.

Can the Learning Nexus e-learning courses run on my own servers?

Yes, it is entirely possible for you to host Learning Nexus courses. All you would need would be a standards compliant Learning Management System such as the Learning Nexus LMS.

Do I have to use the Learning Nexus Learning Management System (LMS)?

No. If you are an Enterprise customer, you are provided with the Learning Nexus LMS. However, our e-learning courses and tools will work on most third party LMS systems. If you don’t have an LMS and are interested in choosing from a selection, we would be delighted to introduce you to several independent LMS providers. Contact us to find out how to become an Enterprise customer.

Do I need 'plug-ins' and if so, which one(s)?

In terms of the software required on a learner’s computer, they must have Internet Explorer (version 6 or better), Flash Player (version 8 or better) and ActiveX controls must be allowed.

Do I need audio capability to run your e-learning courses?

You do not need audio capability to run our courses. We offer two versions of each course, one using audio and one without. Regardless of the media used, each course covers the same material.

Do you offer a hosting service?

Yes, we are happy to offer a hosting solution. In this case your organisation would have the use of the Learning Nexus Learning Management System. You would have the benefit of being able to access the courses from anywhere with internet access at any time. Hosting is included for all Enterprise customers.

How can I change or find my password?

The Learning Nexus Learning Management System offers a mechanism whereby you can request the LMS to email a login reminder. You can also change your own password when logged into the LMS or a System Administrator can change your password if you have forgotten it.

How do I get technical support?

The Help Desk is your first port of call on 0208 780 1494. Our national team of Account Managers are available to support you with any technical issues you may have.

How quickly will I get technical support?

What is your response time? As a customer, your local Customer Support Managers will answer your query as soon as they can. They may be able to answer it immediately. Otherwise it will be escalated to our technical team. Our response time can vary depending on the query, but you will be kept updated and given timescales on a resolution.

If someone leaves my organisation, do I have to delete their usage records?

If so, how? A users usage records may be deleted from the system just by deleting the user account. However, it is usually preferable to ‘Retire’ the user. This means that the user’s account is disabled and their name does not appear in the day to day running of the system but their usage records are retained. This can be helpful for compliance purposes.

The e-learning courses from Learning Nexus aren’t working properly. How should I configure my browser?

The Learning Nexus courses and LMS are designed to work without too much configuration. If the courses are not working properly the user should check that the browser is IE 6 or later, that Flash Player is installed, that ActiveX controls are allowed and that pop-ups are not blocked.

What types of reports can the Learning Nexus LMS run?

By varying the different parameters within the Site Administration tool it is possible to report on a wide variety of different factors. These include, amongst others, who has completed a course, how long they spent on the course, if they passed the test and what their score was. The reports can be run by user, user group or course basis. It is possible to export most of the data into a spread sheet where it can be displayed in any way the administrator chooses.
