New courses added to Learning Nexus’ Managing Diversity course range to meet the needs of the Equality Act 2010

Leading e-learning solutions provider Learning Nexus has again extended its range of off-the-shelf e-learning courses in response to the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.

The main provisions of the Act, which came into effect in October 2010, represent the single biggest piece of anti-discrimination legislation ever created in the UK, and has massive implications for all employers and employees.

Not only have our developers been using their new Course Builder tool to recondition some of the existing courses in the range for better functionality, they are very proud to announce the release of a multitude of newly developed courses into the ‘Managing Diversity’ range, actively addressing equal opportunities in the workplace.

Learning Nexus Release Quality Course on the Bribery Act 2010

Learning Nexus has released our first course in the Ethics in Business course range.

The Bribery Act 2010 came into effect on the 1st of July 2011, and Learning Nexus realised a need within organisations to make sure that employees, or the organisation as a whole, are fully aware of the implications around the act and the offences attributed to it to avoid landing in hot water. They have begun working on a new course range using the Learning Nexus course builder, named Ethics in Business, and the first course in this range is about ‘The Bribery Act 2010: Identifying and Avoiding Bribery in Organisations’, which is now available.

Learning Nexus Create a New Course Range in Response to the Bribery Act 2010

The Bribery Act 2010 updates old, and much-criticised, laws on bribery and also fulfils European Treaty obligations. The Act creates offences which may be committed by individuals as well as an offence by a commercial organisation of failing to prevent bribery. The penalties for organisations are high, with a criminal conviction leading to unlimited fines and possible exclusion from government contracts across the European Union. For individuals, the maximum sentence is 10 years imprisonment.

There is only one defence to the new corporate offence and that is that the organisation must prove that it had “adequate procedures” in place designed to prevent persons associated with it from undertaking acts of bribery.
